Together with 13 business associations, the Council of European Business Associations and Chambers in Serbia (CEBAC) organised the First Conference in Belgrade, the main topic of which was the Specialised Expo in Belgrade.

The interest of numerous companies in cooperation and participation in Expo 2027 Belgrade is natural, given that many companies on the local and international scene see this event as a great opportunity. On behalf of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, Mihailo Vesović, the panel moderator, emphasised the importance of synergy of the economy, innovation and culture, in order for Expo to become a true global platform for Serbia. The panellists were Dušan Borovčanin, EXPO 2027 d.o.o. Beograd Director, and Boris Bjelica, Building Directorate of Serbia Director, and the topic of discussion was various aspects of Expo 2027, including innovative solutions in the construction and preparation for this global event.

Dušan Borovčanin, EXPO 2027 Director, said that this conference is extremely important because it provides companies with the opportunity to learn about all those projects they can participate in. “I think it is very useful considering that we have less than three years until the start of the exhibition itself”, he said, and added, “Today’s gathering is an excellent opportunity to share information, for the business community to find out about the business opportunities the Expo project has to offer, along with what the representatives of around 120 countries, who will visit Serbia in 2027, expect when it comes to products and services from local and regional companies”.

According to the BDS Director, Expo 2027 is the largest project in Serbia since the construction of the Djerdap hydro power plant. He emphasised that this is a major project that Serbia has not yet had the chance to undertake, which involves some works that are not typical for construction projects and requires the participation of all utility companies as well as the entire system of Belgrade.

It was pointed out at the conference that Expo 2027 Belgrade will attract more than 100 delegations from all over the world, and that more than 8,000 events are planned during the 92 days of the exhibition. The participation of 120 countries is expected, which will be presented through specially designed pavilions, to contribute to strong international communication and raising awareness of this event on a global level. Several million visitors from all over the world will visit Serbia on this occasion, and the role of small and medium enterprises will be significant – both as contractors and subcontractors.

Although there is a lot of work ahead in the preparations for Expo 2027, new opportunities are opening up, such as the construction of new business, sports and cultural facilities. One of the key objectives, as Vesović emphasised, is for Serbia to become one of the most important points on the global map, considering that it has a lot to offer the world.
