The Recognition Dossier for the Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade was unanimously adopted at the General Assembly of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) in Paris, marking the end of the preparation and verification process during which all parts of the project received official approval and support from the international community. On that occasion, the Serbian delegation was ceremoniously presented with the Expo flag, the key symbol of hosting one of the most prestigious international events.
The Specialised Expo in Belgrade will unite the world in inspiration, innovation and common solutions for global challenges under the theme “Play for Humanity”. The adoption of the Recognition Dossier and the BIE General Assembly’s unanimous decision are additional proof – Serbia is ready for the Expo.
“Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade will bring countries together around the unifying theme of play, sport, and music, allowing new bridges to be built between cultures and continents. It will serve as a dynamic platform for creative exchange, where ideas and innovations can spark meaningful collaborations across borders. The granting of recognition gives the green light for Serbia to invite the world to the next Specialised Expo, so that all countries can collectively compose a brighter, more inclusive future, where the power of play transcends differences and unites us all.”, Dimitri Kerkentzes, the Secretary General of the BIE pointed out.
The EXPO flag will arrive in Serbia next week, when it will be welcomed by the highest state officials in Belgrade.
“The unanimous decision by the BIE to approve our Recognition Dossier marks the beginning of an extraordinary journey. Our aim is to host an exceptional Specialised Expo that not only sets new records but also fills our citizens with pride. With the inspiring theme “Play for Humanity”, Expo 2027 Belgrade will embody the spirit of collaboration, creativity and innovation, showcasing the best 'play' the world has to offer. By embracing the power of play, we aim to inspire solutions to humanity's challenges and create an unforgettable experience that resonates across generations”, said Jelena Begović, Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation.
Expo 2027 Belgrade will be a place for the world to exchange ideas, while Serbia will show its potential and host visitors from all over the world. With the support of the international community, an exciting journey of organising events that will leave a lasting mark on the global stage lays ahead.
“Serbia is known around the world for many things, and play, sports and music are at the very core of our spirit. We look forward to showing the whole world how important play is for our country, and to invite the nations to play for humanity together with us in Belgrade in 2027”, said Dušan Borovčanin, director of EXPO 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade.
Expo 2027 is expected to attract 120 countries, hundreds of companies and millions of visitors from around the world, providing a unique opportunity for the global promotion of Serbia as an innovative and dynamic destination.
